We combine scientific research with strategic and technical expertise to support our clients throughout the development and operation of mechanical systems. Our services range from studies, technical analyses, design reviews, and data-based market research and technology overviews to specialized consulting, professional training, and advanced simulation.
Our expertise covers mechanical systems, with a particular focus on drivetrains and rolling and sliding bearing technologies. We specialize in reliability, lifetime assessment, and tribological performance, with extensive experience in wind turbines and offshore wind systems. We also apply our expertise to a broad range of other demanding industrial applications.
Who we are
Terwey Research & Advisory was founded in 2026 by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Torben Terwey. He combines extensive industrial experience with academic research and teaching in wind energy engineering, mechanical drivetrains, bearing technology, and tribology.
As Professor of Renewable Offshore Energy with a focus on wind energy engineering at Kiel University of Applied Sciences, his work centers on reliable, efficient, and durable solutions for highly loaded mechanical systems—particularly wind turbine drivetrains, rotor bearings, and related components. Before entering academia, he spent more than six years in the bearing industry, most recently working in engineering, rolling bearings, and tribology.
