Technical Advisory
We support companies when complex technical questions require an independent, structured and technically defensible assessment. This may include the review of a bearing concept, the evaluation of a drivetrain architecture, the assessment of a damage case, the interpretation of technical documentation or the preparation of an expert opinion.
A particular focus lies on wind-energy applications, rolling bearings, tribological contacts and highly loaded mechanical systems. TERWEY supports OEMs, suppliers, developers, engineering teams and technical decision-makers with independent assessments, design reviews and reliability-related evaluations.
Consulting & Training
Consulting & Training focuses on making specialist knowledge accessible, applicable and relevant for engineering practice. Many challenges in bearing technology, tribology and wind-energy systems require knowledge across several disciplines. TERWEY helps organizations build this understanding and apply it in projects, processes and decisions.
Our consulting work supports clients at both strategic and technical levels. This may include technology strategies, engineering processes, technical discussions or decision-making frameworks. The goal is to help teams approach complex mechanical questions in a more systematic, transparent and effective way.
Training is offered primarily in cooperation with the F&E Akademie in Kiel, combining TERWEY’s specialist engineering expertise with an established professional training environment. Formats can be tailored to engineering teams, management groups or interdisciplinary project teams. Topics may include rolling bearing fundamentals, tribological mechanisms, lifetime and reliability assessment, wind-turbine drivetrain systems, rotor main bearings or the interpretation of simulation and calculation results.
Further information on available training formats and courses can be found through the F&E Akademie: https://akademie.fe-kiel.de/

Research
Research at TERWEY Research & Advisory connects scientific depth with practical engineering relevance. We conduct studies, analyses and applied research in wind energy, rolling bearing technology, tribology and mechanical reliability. The objective is to generate insight that is scientifically sound and useful for real technical decisions.
We are particularly interested in topics where mechanical design, contact mechanics, lubrication, material behaviour, loading conditions and system reliability interact.
TERWEY supports industrial R&D projects, collaborative research initiatives and internal development programs. We help clients formulate research questions, structure analytical approaches and translate scientific findings into engineering conclusions.
Simulation
Simulation is a key tool for understanding mechanical systems, evaluating assumptions and supporting reliable engineering decisions. TERWEY applies calculation and simulation methods to assess rolling bearings, tribological contacts, drivetrain components and system-level behaviour. The purpose is not simulation for its own sake, but meaningful insight into loads, contacts, design margins, lifetime effects and technical risks.
In bearing and drivetrain-related projects, simulation can help evaluate concepts, understand load distribution, assess rating life, investigate contact conditions and test the plausibility of supplier data or design assumptions. For tribological questions, modelling can support the understanding of friction, lubrication regimes, contact pressures, wear mechanisms and the interaction between surface, material and operating conditions.
